Made with Love

Made with Love (MWL) is a Food Collective or Food Giving Circle utilising the power of community and networking to provide delicious, nutritious and hearty home made meals, made with love, to the homeless and disadvantaged. Collectively MWL has made a huge impact already on homeless people in Melbourne’s CBD. MWL has engaged schools, school Kitchen Garden programs, and Community kitchens who are now participating in this initiative.

Together with our growing MWL community, we have provided literally hundreds of homemade meals, countless deliveries of supermarket groceries and basic essentials, fresh fruit and vegetables, Bakers Delight fresh breads, care packages, Cole’s vouchers, clothing and more.

MWL has engaged a huge number of families who are benefiting from the joy of cooking their favourite dishes together, food made from the heart, delivering the food and hence connecting directly with the cause and the people they are making food for. Feedback is that the reward is just as significant for the families involved as the people who are enjoying these meals.

Word has literally spread on the street about the delicious, homemade meals available – on one recent Sunday, around 50 people were waiting before opening time at Youth Projects, as they knew they would receive a nourishing meal. One homeless man shared, “Everyone’s talking about the food at Youth Projects now. It’s a better feed than you ever get anywhere else. It’s easy and they let you have seconds.”

A message from Youth Projects Chairman Melanie Raymond:

“Thanks to Made with Love, the food and nutrition that has been introduced is very significant. We have been able to expand the palate and range of foods clients will try. This has been a big problem in the past where clients would reject anything new. Now they are familiar with and eating lentils, pumpkins, beans, savoury muffins, wholemeal bread, fresh fruit and fresh salads.”
